relief as a missing toddler is found alive and well less than 10 miles from his home town. an amber alert was issued for isaiah paris on sunday morning that after his mother and another woman were found murdered at their house. an off duty providence police officer spotted that child walking on a sidewalk. >> officials say they don't know how isaiah ended up there. the toddler will be taken to the hospital to be checked out by doctors. 22-year-old malcolm was connected in connection with the homicide and kidnapping after a struggle with police. he told the officers while he was in custody about another man who might have been involved in the murders daniel rodriguez. officials say one or both of the suspects should be charged today. >> attorney general eric holder

will call for an end to mandatory minimum sentences for many drug offenders. that is according to prepared remarks he will give to the american bar association. it is a major reversal to the government's war on drugs. it began during the reagan administration. the changes will apply to nonviolent drug offenders without ties to large organizations or gangs. holder says the mandatory minimum sentences do not serve public safety and have led to over crowding in prison. lia michelle, i think you have something on that ainsley. >> she is give ago touching tribute to her boyfriend and glee co-star corie monteith. >> she was teary eyed as she dedicated that reward to him. >> thank you to all of you out there who loved and admired corie as much as i did. i promise with your love we are going to get through this

floods because the scorched soil isn't as absorbant as before. a 60-year-old man drowned early friday while trying to rescue a relative stranded by flood waters. >> he went to help his daughter he was wading off and was swept under water. >> ozark region the hardest hit. a woman and her son swept away during flash flooding in waynesville. crews spotting her body once the water receded. >> as the water went up and down it kept coming back as the water went down. >> all of this water changing life. the odem family is considering a move to higher ground. they don't have flood insurance and this is their second water catastrophe in three years. >> we are going to reevaluate. we have a lot to think about. right now everything is upside down. >> a deadly weather event in the

u.s. more people die from flooding every year than from lightening strikes or tornadoes. in new york, brian agaguinness,x news. more unsettled weather in several parts of the country again this morning. maria molina joins us now with more on that. >> last week we were talking about parts of kansas, parts of oklahoma and even into missouri continue to deal with heavy rain and potential for severe weather. guess what. today we are talking déjà vu. more severe thunderstorms. you can see heavy rain pushing across parts of the states. winds in excess of 50 miles per hour large hail and more chance of small tornadoes through the area. a number of watches remain in effect and flow warnings. we have been experiencing flood

warnings. today the forecast into tomorrow more areas of heavy rain locally 2, 3, 4 inches of rain possible before a lot of this moisture makes it into the east coast of the united states and parts of the northeast and also the mid atlantic will have to deal with some of the rain coming up soon later today into tomorrow. otherwise temperature wise 82 for the high in kansas city. a little below average. you will see another reinforcing shot of the low average temperatures coming into parts of the east. waking up with temperatures in the low 30s. >> it is august. >> we will see what happens. >> this comes days after president obama said snowden caused our country great harm.

kelly wright live for us in washington with more on this story. good morning, kelly. >> the father of his son says where the son chooses to live the rest of his life will be his decision alone. he is living in temporary asylum in russia. the president and members of congress say snow dans actions caused great harm to the operation of the nsa and snowden should return to stand trial. the father says he is disappointed with the president's comments. believes the president and members of congress are involved in political theater he claims was quote poisening the well for his son to have a fair trial if he were to return home to face charges. >> as a father i want my son to come home if i believe the justice system we should be afforded of as americans is going to be applied correctly. >> president obama in an effort to maintain the public's trust of the nsa program is now providing more over sight and

high unemployment, high taxes and high gas prices are to blame. but don't worry about that last one. gas prices have fallen by $0.06 in the past week mainly because designers are over producing. if you are filling up this morning expect to pay $3 -- $3.55 a gallon. the government says next year drivers will pay an average $3.37 that is the lowest since 2010. apple will reportedly unveil the new iphone we have been waiting for it on september 10th. it is expected to look like the current iphone 5 but you have to add a finger print reader for security and a better camera. arch rival samsung may be filling out this one reportedly releasing the galaxy smart phone the week before. >> everyone uses their cell phone to take pictures now anyways instead of making calls. >> i went on vacation no one had

>> good morning to you and your family on this monday. in the news this morning a scare at one of the world's busiest airports. two customs workers at jfk airport say they felt sick after opening a package at the airport's u.s. postal service facility. wnyw reporter has more. >> law enforcement sources tell me that two customs agents became ill from a strong smell coming from an international package. sources say it set off an alarm for a lethal vx gas called nerve gas. they also say substances with a similar signature could cause the alarm. the fbi sent in hazardous materials experts. the two customs agents

>> two of the horse back riders who saved her will be on "fox & friends." >> now to a fox news alert while you were sleeping brand new video of a sink hole forcing the evacuation of a florida resort. it happened near disney world and officials say 30 percent of the three story villa collapsed at the summer bay resort. it is about 40 to 50 feet wide and piers to be getting deeper. witnesses say they heard a cracking sound at the villa and there were two orville laws at that resort. one has also been evacuated. no injuries have been reported. >> two connecticut homes where four people were killed after a small plane crashed into them will be torn down. the pilot turning to land at a nearby airport when the accident happened. the pilot and his son died along with a 13-year-old and

man who might have been involved in the murders daniel rodriguez. one or both of the suspects will be charged today. >> in a few hours day five of the fort hood trial resumes in texas. prosecutors say it could wrap up sooner than expected. army major nadal hassan has only cross examined two of the witnesses called friday. they remember the terrifying moment the two opened fire. many thought it was a training exercise. hassan admits to killing 13 people and wounding 31 others in the 2009 rampage. hassan is charged with murder and could face the death penalty. >> the sister of an american missionary prisoner in north korea is begging the u.s. to help bring him home. her brother is having serious het problems and lost more than 50 pounds. he was arrested back in november

>> ainsley still a very active investigation going on here at the summer bay resort. i want to show you what's going on right behind me. the life of the fire truck right there is parked in front of building 104. that was the building that collapsed according to fire officials here in lake county at around 3 this morning. there were 20 residents inside the building at the time of this collapse. they described hearing loud bangs and windows breaking around midnight. we spoke to a person who was out here a short time ago as you can see the video of the building absolutely leaning over to the right. the collapse started at the back of the building. 20 residents signed the building had to be quickly evacuated and also residents of a nearby building or villa at summer bay resort also had to be evacuated. we are hearing there are several power outages because officials had to shut off the power because there were gas leaks and a lot more chaos happening in

this particular area. many residents we were told here on scene had to actually jump out the windows in order to escape. a lake county fire rescue tells us at last check the sink hole is about 60 feet wide in diameter and 15 feet deep. we are waiting for the building inspection code officials to arrive on scene. they will be coming here around daybreak to assess the damage more but all 20 people have been accounted for and many who were displaced were put into deer by hotels. i have to tell you this was a scary situation for many residents who were here on vacation when all of a sudden this building collapsed right in the middle of the night. live in lake county ainsley we will send it back to you. >> ray live from florida. thanks, ray. >> a u.s. army veteran says he was kicked off a new jersey boardwalk by a police officer who allegedly doubted whether he needed a service dog.
